Bathing

During your pet’s grooming stay, bathing is an important time to check for skin conditions, lumps, bumps, or other abnormalities.

Our groomer uses shampoos that help improve the health of the skin and coat. First, a degreasing and deodorizing shampoo is used to clean the skin and coat well. Anal glands are expressed at this time as well. Next, depending on breed, coat/skin type, and color either a deshedding, medicated, or color defining shampoo is chosen to improve coat luster. Finally, a conditioning cream is worked into the coat to improve sheen and softness as well as helping to comb the coat out later.  After the bath, a conditioning leave-in spray and cologne is applied, ears are cleaned, and nails are trimmed.

All of these steps improve the health of your pet and make them a little extra huggable!

Clipping

A pet clip is so much more than just cutting the hair. Before any clipping is done, the coat is fully combed out if possible. Any burrs, seeds, or other debris are removed to help keep the pet comfortable.

Depending on how badly matted your pet is after the initial comb out, our groomer will choose the clip that will be easiest on your pet. This could be a short cut if the coat is heavily matted, or a scissor-silhouette trim that will leave the coat looking more natural for the breed.

After a bath, each pet is dried, combed out, and finish clipped to make them look and feel show ready.

Deshedding

Shedding is messy, and no one is a fan of pet hair in their home. Let us help make shedding less stressful by offering our Deshed Bath!

During the bathing process, a special deshedding shampoo is used to help the coat release loose hair. This shampoo, along with the conditioning cream makes a huge impact on shedding.

After the bath, a high velocity dryer is used to push out all the leftover dead hair. This is a messy time at the clinic as the fur is really flying!

Nail Trims

Keeping your dog or cat’s nails trimmed to the proper length is an added health benefit.

If the nails grow too long, you put your pet at risk of breaking a nail off which is very painful! When nails are allowed to grow too long it is difficult to walk or stand properly. The nail can also actually curl around and grow into the paw pad or leg. For these reasons, it is very important to schedule regular nail trimming.

During the groom, they will receive a “pet-icure” to help improve your pet’s quality of life!
