Preventative Medicine

We treat every patient individually.  Our veterinarians consider your pet's needs, age, legal requirements, risk of exposure, and lifestyle in addition to the owner's concerns.  Our veterinarians will conduct a wellness exam of your pet's physical condition including their weight, skin, eyes, ears, teeth, heart, and lungs.  We want to ensure all our patients lead a tail wagging, healthy life.

Heartworm Prevention

We recommend ProHeart for all of our patients. ProHeart is an injectable heartworm preventative that lasts for 6 months, so you don't have to remember to give a heartworm pill every month. In addition, ProHeart comes with a parasite guarantee, so if your dog becomes infected with intestinal parasites while on ProHeart, he/she will be dewormed for free.

FAQ:  How do dogs get heartworms?

Answer: Mosquitos.  When your dog is bit by a mosquito they transmit heartworm larvae into your dog's bloodstream.  The larvae eventually mature up to a foot long and continue living inside your dog's heart and lungs.  Heartworm treatment is costly, difficult, and can result in fatal complications. Even if treatment is successful, your pet will have lifelong side effects as a result of the damage to the heart and lungs.  It is imperative that your dog is on a heartworm treatment.

We recommend Simparica.  Simparica is the only chewable tablet on the market that protects your pet from 5 types of ticks.  It also has long lasting protection in case you are a day or two late with the monthly dose.

We also offer Simparica Trio.  This  is a convenient option that provides your pet protection against fleas, ticks, and roundworms, hookworms, and heartworm disease.

Cats

We have the best for you feline friends too!  Revolution Plus protects your pet against ear mites, fleas, ticks, roundworms, hookworms, and heartworms.  It is a convenient topical that you administer once a month to keep your cat parasite free.

Microchipping

Inserting a microchip into your pet is similar to receiving a vaccination.  It just takes one quick poke for your pet to be added to the nation wide database through Pet Link.  This will ensure their safety and ability to be recovered should they ever get lost.
